The Trustees of your Employee Health & Welfare Fund are pleased to furnish you with this updated Summary Plan Description explaining your Plan of Benefits.

The Trustees of the Employee Health & Welfare Fund are keenly aware of the rising cost of medical care.

The Trustees continually review the benefit program. The objectives of the Plan are:

  • to provide the kind of financial protection members need; and
  • to maintain a competitive benefit plan design with broad ranges of coverage.

This Summary Plan Description becomes effective January 1, 2018 and replaces all other Summary Plan Descriptions previously published by the Trustees. Read this section of our site carefully (have your spouse read it, too) and become familiar with the additional plan documents so that you will know what your benefits are. This site will provide easy reference if you have any questions in the future.

This section of our site describes only the highlights of the benefits offered by the Teamsters Local 170 Health & Welfare Fund, but does not represent the complete or official documents. If there are any conflicts between this section of our site and the legal documents, the legal documents will govern.
